Welcome to BCCIS. We appreciate your interest in our school. This information is intended to assist you in assessing which school will best serve the needs of your children. We welcome your questions. Please feel free to email or call us. At BCCIS, students are at the heart of the educational experience. We believe that school should be engaging, stimulating and fun in order for each child to best develop the self-confidence, interpersonal skills and academic foundation for success in rapidly changing world. Here students learn to master content, and to synthesize, apply and make critical judgments about what they learn. Our program strives to be dynamic, experience based and designed to be appropriate to the developmental needs of children from preschool through adolescence
BCCIS Entrance Policy
1. BCCIS offers an Elementary and a High School Program. Students will advance by successfully completing the learning outcomes for the grade. Admission to the graduation program will be by successfully completing the Gr.9 exams in English, Math, Science and Social Studies. 2. All students entering BCCIS will be tested orally and in written form. Pre-School and KG1 applicants will be assessed by the Pre-School direcotr or designate. KG 2 and up will be assessed by principal or designate. There will be tests in English and Math for Gr. 2 to 6. Gr. 7 will also be tested in science. Admission to the graduation program will require a "B" grade average or higher.
Admission Criteria
Our primary goal in the admission process is to asses each applicant's level of readiness for the grade to which he or she is applying. This allows us to place students in the learning environment in which they will be most successful while at our school. Occasionally we find that BCCIS expectations of students are different from other international and local schools. Because of that all candidates seeking admission to BCCIS need to schedule an interview with our school administration, to discuss entrance placement and initial academic testing. BCCIS follows an academic year based on the northern hemisphere British Colombia Canadian curriculum. This means that school typically begins the fist week of September and runs until the third week of December. Students return for second semester in January and classes continue until end of June. While most students enter school at the beginning of each semester, we do take applications and accept students throughout the year.
Age requirements for admissions
Pre-school: two years six months old prior to October 1st of the year of admission. KG 1: three years six months old prior to October1st of the year of admission. KG 2: fouryears six months old prior to October 1st of the year of admission.
