What is BCCIS’ Graduation Transitions?
What does Graduation Transitions consist of?
- Grade 10 – Planning 10: Assignments and activities that lay
the groundwork for later Transition Plan components.
- Grade 11 – Preparation & Exploration: Students develop their
skills, hold informational interviews, obtain voluntary or paid
work experience over the three years, collect materials,
visit universities, and evaluate their progress
- Grade 12 – Transition Plan, Portfolio & Presentation: Students
Complete the Transition Plan using the materials from the last two
years.
- An overall mark of 80% has to be achieved in order to complete
the process and earn the Requirements Met (Pass) required for
Graduation.

What are the benefits of Graduation Transitions?
Three packages have been developed to help you meet the
learning outcomes as stated in the BC Ministry’s Program Guide. Students
must complete 100% of all work assigned in the three packages and
obtain 80% in order to graduate and meet the requirements of the
Dogwood certificate.
In grade ten, students will begin to develop a Portfolio or
collection of documents, photos, assignments, artwork and report cards
to show their skills and abilities, attitudes and interests. These will
be presented at a special ceremony in your graduating year.

What will you do during grade 10, 11 and 12?
Package #2 Community Connection: Grades 10, 11, 12
This is all about how to make career choices, university choices
and understanding the world of work. In this section you will interview
people in career fields you are interested in. You will research universities
and visit them and you will gain some real life work experience. Document
everything in your Career Box.
Career Exploration
o This part of the graduating transitions plan includes at least
30 hours of work experience and/or community service.
Please download the introduction letter in English or Arabic and take
to the community organization and/or employer to explain the purpose.Then,once you have verbal agreement with the community organization and/or employer, take the pages in Arabic or pages in
English for the supervisor to give you feedback once you have completed the negotiated hours. You must also do a self-assessment.

Package #3 Career and Life Grades 10, 11 and 12

The Career and Life package is your grade 11 Transitions course
and your grade 12 BCCIS Graduation Transitions Plan: Your Portfolio

In this package, you will develop a plan in Grade 11/12 (some students may begin in grade 10) that indicates that you are
prepared to successfully transition from secondary school.

· Financial Plan
· Balancing your life plan
In your Career Box you will place all of the significant accomplishments
you have achieved over your secondary years and prepare to showcase
them upon graduation to your school community and family.
